Mark Zuckerberg an advocate for #wildtime

You may have seen the news that Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have announced the birth of their second daughter, named August, releasing a family photo on Facebook.

After their first child was born the couple released an open letter to the child and they have repeated this again. You can read the letter here.

For all of us involved in the movement to grow Wild Time it makes interesting reading here are a couple of excerpts.

“The world can be a serious place. That’s why it’s important to make time to go outside and play”

“You will be busy when you’re older, so I hope you take time to smell all the flowers and put all the leaves you want in your bucket now. I hope you read your favorite Dr. Seuss books so many times you start inventing your own stories about the Vipper of Vipp. I hope you ride the carousel with Max until you’ve tamed every color horse. I hope you run as many laps around our living room and yard as you want…”

So here’s the challenge to Mr Zuckerberg of Facebook, Mr Cook of Apple, Mr Pichai of Google and all the others tech companies out there – put your money where you mouth is!

We’re convinced that the future is about finding a balance between hi-tech and hi-nature. Making that happen as Mark Zuckerberg wishes for his daughter is not as simple as writing a letter, it is going to take real commitment, real innovation and an openness to challenge some of the very business assumptions that they hold dear.

To Mark and all leaders in Silicon Valley and beyond – are you prepared to do that?
